Get your national microchipping month event kit now
With June only a few months away, the Kennel Club is already busy supporting vets across the country who wish to take part in this year’s National Microchipping Month campaign, by supplying free event kits for their microchipping clinics.

The Kennel Club is encouraging vets and other organisations around the country to hold microchipping clinics in their local surgeries, to promote microchipping as the best method of identifying pets in the instance that they go missing. This nationwide effort to establish microchipping clinics is another way to encourage and promote responsible pet ownership. Vets are being asked to submit an event date to the Kennel Club in advance, and in return they will receive a kit to help promote the campaign.

The Kennel Club will be offering vets its full support and assistance for those that decide to hold an event. Veterinary surgeries will receive a FREE event kit which contains National Microchipping Month posters, balloons and badges, and includes Petlog Premium materials such as leaflets to assist in holding the clinic.

Those interested in taking part will also find useful information and advice included in the kit. All promotions and event details will be featured on the National Microchipping Month website, www.nationalmicrochippingmonth.org.uk.

If you’re thinking about organising your own event or running a promotion in support of National Microchipping Month, here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Set up a microchipping clinic and invite pet owners to come along with their pets.
  • Provide information on microchipping in your reception area (included in pack).
  • Run a promotion - for example, offer to microchip two pets for the price of one.
  • Hold a scanning clinic so owners can check if their details are up-to-date on the Petlog website, www.petlog.org.uk.
  • Hold a responsible pet ownership day where all issues can be discussed and promoted (give out poo bags and/or give prizes for the best groomed dog).
  • Organise a roaming microchipping van and visit popular dog walking areas throughout June.
  • Arrange seminars promoting microchipping and responsible dog ownership.
  • Contact your local rescue centre and dog warden and seek their help and involvement with your event.

If you would like to request a pack and be involved with National Microchipping Month in June, please contact Cat Osterlund at the Kennel Club, on 0870 606 6750 ext 310, email marketing@thekennelclub.org.uk or log onto www.nationalmicrochippingmonth.org.uk.
