The Importance of Grooming Your Dog
All dogs, from pedigrees to cross breeds, benefit from regular professional grooming. Grooming helps to maintain the skin and coat in tip top condition and makes the dog feel better and look great. Short haired dogs that are groomed regularly should shed less, meaning fewer hairs around your house. For long haired dogs there is the obvious benefit of keeping their coat matt free, as well as their coat being cut and styled to a length that is manageable for the owner concerned.
When selecting a grooming salon you should ensure that the groomers are experienced and that the salon itself is clean with modern equipment and a friendly atmosphere. Here at mypetstop® we are proud of both the team and the facilities. You can be assured that your dog's time at mypetstop® grooming salon will be as stress free and enjoyable as possible; throughout the groom the dog's welfare is our priority. We are so confident of our groomers' ability that our styling area has a window through which you can watch dogs being groomed.
Prior to all grooms at mypetstop® we carry out a consultation with the owner; this is a friendly discussion so we can learn about the dog's temperament and any medical conditions. We also discuss how the owner would like their dog groomed; we are able to groom to breed standard or as the owner prefers. If you are unsure as to how to have your dog styled our groomers are happy to make suggestions as to the best way for your dog to be styled. Our experienced groomers can groom to show ring standard, including hand stripping. Certain breeds benefit from hand stripping which is a technique where the hair is pulled using a knife or fingers to remove dead hair from the coat; the dead hair comes away easily leaving a hard waterproof top coat. As standard all our grooms include clipping the dog's nails, cleaning inside the ears and plucking any hairs if required, as well as checking and emptying anal glands. Many grooming salons will charge extra for these services.
In addition to full grooms mypetstop® also offers a bathing service. This is ideal for between grooms to keep your dog smelling nice or when your dog has got particularly dirty. We'll do all the hard work for you, so you don’t have to worry about a bathroom covered in dirt and dog hairs. If your dog has a long coat, they will have to be brushed before being bathed to prevent the coat from becoming matted.
mypetstop® groomers are on hand to offer help and advice in all aspects of your dogs grooming requirements between visits to mypetstop®. We will ensure that you have the correct equipment and know how to maintain your dogs coat in pristine condition at all times.
