Selecting a puppy training class

Puppy Training classes are the ideal way to really develop the relationship you have with your new puppy.  It is important to carefully select a training class for your puppy.  When choosing a class there are several important points to consider:

• Class size – if there are too many puppies in the class you won’t receive any individual attention.  If there are too few in the class your puppy will miss out on the socialisation opportunities with other puppies.
• Class venue – is there plenty of space?  Can training be done inside?  An indoor location is ideal as this will enable training to continue irrespective of the weather.
• Trainers skills, knowledge and experience.
• Age of the puppies in the class – ideally puppies should be under twenty weeks of age at the start of the puppy course.
• The trainer should be in control of the class
• Training techniques – the training should involve positive reward based methods
• Do the puppies and owners look like they are enjoying their classes?
